A modern Toastmaster service with an old-fashioned courtesy

8 September 2010  Worked with photographer Teresa O'Neill at the wedding on Saturdya and she'e tipped me off about a new venue near Newark, I'll give it a try.

4 September 2010 Wedding at Sutton Bonnington Hall today for Emily and Martin.  Another new venue. Should be fun. - It was!  A fabulous and intimate venue.

15 August 2010    New publicity here and looking great!  Now it's the big push out!  Also looking at training as a celebrant.  "A what?" I hear you ask Watch this space.

7 August 2010      Quick rush home from Sherwood to do a wedding for a lovely couple, Andy and Rebecca, at Barnsdale Hall yesterday, back to Sherwood today.  It's all go!  By an amzing coincidence, my next wedding is for an Andy and Rebecca, at Rufford.

4 August 2010      Been having a great week in Sherwood Forest doing the actor bit for  the Robin Hood Festival.  We even had a mensh and picture in the Sunday Express

31 July 2010        Weather was fine and a lovely wedding.  Katie, the bride is a primary school teacher and her class was there to give her a cheer when she arrived.  Not a dry eye in the house!

30 July 2010        Covering for my mate Tom at the Ramada Newton Solney.  Done a few weddings for him here, just hoping for good weather.

12 July 2010    New publicity is on the way!  Hopefully by the end of the month there will be a load of new paper publicity for Class In a Coat.  Always exciting.  Let's hope it works!

5 July 2010     Great wedding with Vijay and Charlotte at the Leicester Marriot yesterday.  Long day, but good fun.

3 June 2010   It has to be said that the picture of me at the wedding of Sharan and Mitesh on my blog is causing quite a stir!  As you can see for yourselves, it's quite understandable!

Stunning huh?

June 2010     In a couple of weeks I am doing Emily and Ben's wedding in London.  They are getting married in The Strand and then all of the guests are getting on a couple of double-deckers to get to Knightsbridge for the reception.  Emily and Ben are stopping off at Buck House on the way for photos.

How cool is that?

16 April 2010     Busy day!  Had an audition for a photo shoot job for a couple of days in London coming up in June.  Would be nice to get it, something different, then had a great time being a Toastmaster at the Nottingham Belfry yesterday evening.  I was working with Sanjay Foods - a huge player in the catering market, and it was a ball!  Worked with the EXCELLENT Campbell Bass  who was a huge hit, and the Calibar Disco    with whom I have worked before and many others.  It was a good do with some great food, and many interesting conversations!

8 April 2010      Just come back from a few days doing the actor bit at Dover Castle.

A great time, working with some of my favourite people, notably Wyndebagge.

It has to be said though, it was very, very cold!

21 March 2010  Off to a wedding fair at the fabulous Stapleford Park on Sunday.

It was all a very last minute arrangement, but hey, let's suck it and see!!

Stop press........  It was duly sucked and seen to be very good!!!   Business has been done.

8th March 2010  I love it when unexpected things fall in your lap!  Another job for NHS, another awards ceremony, this time on Wednesday night at The Athena, in Leicester.  Job only cam in on Friday!  The Athena is a lovely renovated Art Deco cinema.

Written a bit more about it on my blog.

21st February 2010   It snowed!  We got there, and Chatsworth looked fabulous

The trouble was, when we got there we found out it was cancelled!

13th February 2010  Did a fund -raiser for my mate Alan Johns in Carlisle Castle.

Alan, in turn is raising money for Help For Heroes , The Army Benevolent Fund and The Royal British Legion.  A good night was had by all and over £1000 was cleared.  This is the start of a series of fund-raising events Alan is doing, culminating in a walk from Carlisle Castle to the army rehabilitation centre at Hindhead in Surrey.  I've never understood walking these distances.  When he told me I thought it was the worst idea anyone had had since Mrs Lincoln said "Do you fancy going to the theatre tonight Abe?"  Thankfully though, there are people like Alan around who will do these things!

30th December 2009    Nice to finish the Toastmaster year on a high note.  I love Christmas weddings and Mark and Clare's at Thoresby Hall yesterday was fabulous.  Possibly the largest number of people in the Blue Room I have ever seen.  The Blue Room team was excellent, as usual and there was a brilliant table magician, Marc Oberon.

16th July Bit of a mixed bag today.  Lot of stuff through from The National Association of Toastmasters about theft of cash from gift cards at weddings which is a sad state of affairs, more about this on my blog, but a couple of great pictures sent through to me by David Corton .  The one I particularly like is the deep conversation I'm having with Martin (see above on 21st June).  In actuality we are discussing the British Lions against the Springboks.

Anyway, home now and preparing for this weekend's wedding of Sara and Artem at The Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich.  I am really looking forward to this.  The Painted Hall is simply stunning.

Painted Hall

It is where Nelson lay in state before his funeral.  It is going to be a half Russian wedding and I'm really looking forward to it.  I will keep you posted!

19th August    What a fantastic wedding!  I've written a fair bit about it on my blog (see link), but bits of it keep going over and over in my head.  One of the most impressive things about it was that there were 140 guests, a good percentage of whom were Russian, the other largest group were Sara's family from Yorkshire, and they'd bought 118 (yes that's one hundred and eighteen) bottles of vodka!
I had a call today from Clair who was the Maid of Honour and she booked me for her wedding next September, I must have done something right! Anyway, she told me that the vodka left over from Saturday went aboard a river cruise the next day and the party continued at Sara and Artem's house (still with vodka)
on Sunday evening.  Now that's celebrating a wedding!  The happy couple are now in South Africa for a month!  I think that Sara and Artem's wedding has achieved "I WAS THERE" status

6th September   I'm leaving the facebook for a while for health reasons. So onto more joyous occasions - weddings!  Have a busy time coming up, starting next week at  Guildhall

I'm there for the wedding of Ele and Alex.  Possibly the oldest place I've Toastmastered in and certainly one of the most historic!  This place is fantastic.  I will be working in the Old Library.  I think you'll agree it looks stunning and the weather forecast is great.  It should look wonderful through that stained glass window.

I'll let you know how I get on next week.

16th September Well it's next week and it was great!  I'm only going to briefly mention it here because I covered it fairly well in my blog.
www.classinacoat.typepad.com . I was right about the light, the room was brilliantly lit by the sun.  It was a lovely, relaxed wedding for Elle and Alex, despite the grand surroundings.  Met another great photographer, Paul Williams (see link page).  Paul's relaxed approach really added to the laid back atmosphere on the day.

26th September Just ordered the chicken for my re-booking on Wednesday evening.  Doing an NHS long-service awards dinner at The Walkers Stadium

Did a similar job back along in the summer, the evening of the day I went on my blog course.  The things that stick in your mind eh?
