A modern Toastmaster service with an old-fashioned courtesy Black Tie Events

Here is a list of people and places I have worked with whom I think are particularly good at their jobs.
You may find it useful! If you do get in touch with anyone here, would you tell them where you found them? Thanks!

PHOTOGRAPHERS:
Choosing your photographer is incredibly important, they can have a huge impact on your day, not just with the pictures themselves, but also with their impact upon the day's organisation. The following photographers are all very professional and all very good with differing styles and packages. Basically you take a look and you make your choice!

ENTERTAINERS:
The James Joyce Band
A great wedding band, able to offer a complete package. If you want something to get your foot tapping with a good selection of music to get your guests dancing, or if you want a Ceilidh with a caller these are the guys for you. A nice line of banter too. Just good people to work with.

Craig Baumber.
This guy is so talented he makes me sick! He really is very, very good. A great voice and a huge repetoire. A cross between Harry Connick jnr. and............ Harry Connick jnr! I never have any hesitation in recommending Craig.

bZents
If you want something a little different for your wedding - stilt-walking characters, storytellers, and so on (you'd be amazed at what some people ask for) then these guys are the ones for you. If they can't actually supply what you're looking for they probably know a man who can. Well worth a look.

Flutique
A delightful duo of young ladies, Dana and Ana-Maria who have a vast repetoire of music all played on, guess what? Yea, Flutes! They both look and sound great.

Marc Oberon
A fabulous magician. I've worked with Marc at weddings where he has worked tables, I'm pretty sure he does larger scale stuff too. If it's half as good as his table stuff - it will be brilliant!

Campbell Bass
A fabulous singer with a great repetoire of songs. This guy even had people dancing at a Wedding Fair! Classy stuff!

STATIONERS:
Sposini Wedding Stationery
These guys do some lovely and very original stuff. It's not just invitations, but table plans and place settings too. I particulalrly like the boxes and ideas they have for favours. Very nice to deal with too.

EVENT ORGANISERS:
Sometimes the whole thing can feel a little too much. Deadlines to meet, events to organise, a job that has to be held down. Increasingly people are turning to event companies to help organise their wedding or function. They will liaise with you and your suppliers, making sure that you don't have to deal with much of the time-consuming detail.
Golden Goose Events Ltd.
I have only worked with this company once, but they were very good, especially the man in charge on this particular day, Charles. Good attention to detail.

FLORISTS:
It is amazing how important flowers are at a wedding, and you don't realise just how important until they aren't there, or they're not very good. Here are a few recommended florists:
Vintage Floral Designs
This really is something very different. I met Patricia at the Stapleford Park wedding show and was struck with her work. It is VERY different and lots of fun.
The above picture is part of Patricia's work that she displayed in conjunction with "Toot Sweet" who are linked in the "Odds and Ends" section below. I only have a telephone number for Patricia....... 07724 68 76 14, but well worth a call.
The Flower Shop Woburn
I've worked a couple of times with Lesley of The Flower Shop and she has a real artistic touch with her designs. Can be traditional or creative - tailors her work very much to her clients' ideas.

WEDDING CARS:
Leicester Chauffeurs
These guys have a couple of lovely cars, and the good thing is they will only take one booking per day. They also offer a really neat "get you home when you've had a few" service. Worth a look.

A.C.E.S.
A really pleasant husband and wife team with a very interesting selection of immaculate more modern cars. Well worth a look.

ODDS AND ENDS
Komodo Fireworks
I love fireworks. Always have done, and in my line of owrk over the years I have seen some fantastic displays, perhaps most notably at Stourhead

The great thing nowadays is that you can get pretty spectacular displays at a very reasonable price, and if that's what you are looking for then these are the guys to deal with!

Toot Sweets of Oakham
Some lovely alternative ideas for weddings with old-fashioned sweets. Well worth a look. Nice people to deal with too.

Castle Print Brokers
Every now and then somebody tells you what they do and you think "What a great idea". Well at the NHS long service award dinner I met someone who did that. The chap's name is Nik Novakovic and Nic is a print broker. Basically he works like an insurance broker, but with printing companies. Brilliant! He is currently working on my new bookmarks and everything seems to be going pretty smoothly at the moment. The big thing is though, the prices he finds are great! Printing can be an expensive old job, but this seems to help keep the prices down to as reasonable a level as can be expected, or indeed hoped for!

Robinson and York
Really good suit and dress hire company, along with lots of other things for hire too. Pleasant people and a good service

A really useful one stop wedding shop site. Worth a look

Destiny Bridal Boutique
A dress shop! Now I don't know too much about this side of the business, but I do know these are very nice people to deal with.
www.destinybridals.com
A very good "instant" photography set-up that works nationally. Portrait photographs of guests/clients/customers as they wait.
